The candy bowls were empty, the jack-o-lantern candles were dim, but the horror was just beginning. Michael Myers escapes Laurie Strode's basement of booby traps and continues his reign of terror on Haddonfield, first by taking out their entire fire department. From there, he brutally dwindles the population in ways a certain summer camp decimator would.
Meanwhile, Laurie begins her recovery at Haddonfield Memorial Hospital where 3/4 of the town seem to be. They mistake The Penguin another escaped mental patient for Michael and chase him down the corridors to his death, all while chanting a cringeworthy slogan. Mrs. Alves would've never stood for such chaos. Tommy Doyle and Lonnie Elam figure out Michael's killing spree leads to his childhood home. He is lured outside and pummeled by a group of residents holding bats, crowbars, and of course, irons. Just when it looks like evil has died, Michael revives and eliminates his assailants, including someone whose Christmas sweater got one last use in the nick of time.
Three words. Three simple words that everyone wants to hear. If you're thinking it's "I love you" you're dead wrong. It's EVIL DIES TONIGHT! Don't say it once, don't say it twice. Say it five hundred God damn times like they do in this movie. I had low expectations for Halloween Kills but despite the chanting, ridiculous hospital scenes, wasting legacy characters and choosing the wrong ending, I still found the film enjoyable. The flashback scenes were fantastic. I would've dug an entire flashback movie actually. Production design did an amazing job on The Myers House and it was great to see some familiar faces, even if they weren't given proper deaths or screen time. Halloween Kills just missed the $100 million dollar mark amidst tepid reviews from critics and fans. It won't belong until we find out how Halloween ends.

Nice work! I enjoyed HKills but there were some cringe-worthy moment. Makes me worried for HEnds. I agree about the flashbacks. If they somehow could have made an entire film about what happened after he fell off the balcony it would've been interesting. With the set design of the Myers' house, I hope they somehow create the Wallace and Doyle houses in studio for the next one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bronson! I would love to see the Wallace and Doyle Houses in Halloween Ends.
