Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (2021)

The third and final installment of the Fear Street trilogy, Deena has visions of Sarah Fier's point of view in 1666.  Solomon Goode makes a deal with the devil and offers Pastor Miller to be possessed to kill so Solomon can gain power and wealth.  Sarah wants not part in it but has her hand cut off and is captured before being executed.   Back to current day 1994, Deena concludes the Goode Family is responsible for Shadyside's curse.  Another showdown takes place at the mall to have the Shadyside killers off Nick Goode and end the curse for good, but he is ultimately dispatched by Deena.

Fear Street Part Three is the least thrilling of the trilogy, but maybe that's because I prefer Scream (1996) to The Crucible.  The 17th century colonial town seen in the film was built on a remote Georgia farm.  Several of the locations from Part One make another appearance to bring the story full circle.

Sunnyvale is one of the richest and safest towns in America.  Nearby Shadyside is considered the murder capital of the country so when there's a massacre at the mall, no one really blinks an eye but they do point fingers at Sara Fier, who was executed in 1666 for witchcraft and cursed the town.  A group of teens encounter past killers of Shadside who seem to want Samantha Fraser's blood.  A massive showdown occurs at the location supermarket, where Samantha apparently drowned, making the killers disappart.  Sam is then revived by her girlfriend, Deena.  But there's no escaping Sarah Fier.

The Fear Street film series is based on R.L Stine's book series of the same name.  All three parts were filmed back-to-back in 2019 and before debuting on Netflix, was intended for a theatrical release in 2020, but was canceled due to Covid.  Horror fans will be pleased with the gore factor and the homages to such slasher classics as Halloween (1978)Friday the 13th (1980)Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997).
