While my heart belongs to the Halloween (1978) franchise, I do enjoy the first four Friday the 13th's. The first one I ever saw was Friday the 13th Part III (1982) so I was a little confused when I saw the first one and Mrs. Voorhees was knocking off the camp counselors, who were pushing mid-twenties. And she’s a force to be reckoned with. She could hang a hundred and fifty pound man from a tree, had mad archery skills and was a fierce competitor for Alice during their bitch fight. Friday the 13th would lead the slasher craze of the 1980s, spawning a sequel almost every year of the decade, an unrelated TV series and a Nintendo game.

Fans gathered at the mess hall where bottle of water were waiting. The labels said Crystal Geyser, but I abstained just to be on the safe side...
When who should greet us but none other than Adrienne King (Alice)!
We were broken up into groups and our first stop was right where we were, as this was the location of Claudette and Barry's jammin' folk concert. It appears to be indoors in the film. That's movie magic for you...
The mess hall served as base camp during filming...
And here is the kitchen where makeup artist Tom Savini baked a cast of Betsy Palmer's head for the decapitation scene...
Alice & Steve's Cabin
The cabin that Alice and Steve Christy were attaching the gutter to and where Steve gives off some pervy vibes after some vague Alice backstory was the old Trading Post. Unfortunately it no longer exists but was located in this area. Proceeds from this tour are helping build a new one...

I first found out about Camp No-Be-Be-Sco’s Crystal Lake Tour
back in November 2015 just after they had one.
I would have to wait almost two years until I had a chance to try for
tickets. An email snafu dashed any hope
of getting them for the October 2017 tour.
But in March 2018, I hit the lottery.
Well, the horror lottery since Camp Crystal Lake was one of my top
need-to-visit locations. In short, the
tour was amazing!! Very well organized with informative tour guides who seemed just as excited to be there as fans were. There were props to reenact scenes. And to top it off, sweet-as-pie Adrienne King (Alice) was there to greet
us, sign autographs and take photos. It
certainly didn’t feel like the unluckiest day of the year.
So much for being the early bird...
Upon check-in, you received a very cool personalized badge...

Brenda's Cabin/Jack & Marci's Sex Cabin
I always had a thing for Brenda. She was feisty and kinky (I can only imagine
what her version of Twister would be like), though her being a vegetarian
would’ve been our undoing.... Brenda's cause of
death is a bit ambiguous. I thought her scene with Ned was foreshadowing and I figured Mrs. Voorhees would’ve shot Brenda full of arrows since she dragged her
out to the archery range but poor Bill got them instead...

DeleteGreat blog! I'm also a lottery winner and will be attending the camp tour this coming Friday. I plan to tour the other filming locations on my own and certainly appreciate your pics. They'll be a big help. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kenny! Congrats on the lotto win! I wasn't aware they were doing a tour this month, makes senes tho since it's October and almost the 13th.
ReplyDeleteThis is really great. It takes me back to the eighties when, as a kid, I became a fan of Friday the 13th in the former Yugoslavia. Even today, I watch all the parts, after a couple of years break. Thanks for the awakened memories on some better times.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Thanks for visiting!
