Insatiable (2018-2019)

Patty Bladell has an insatiable hunger for life...and food.  Bullied by her peers, she reaches a breaking point with a homeless man, which results in her jaw being wired shut.  A summer of a liquid diet sheds the pounds and turns the heads in the hallways when she returns to school.  Disgraced pageant groomer turned lawyer Bob Armstrong defends Patty's case and mentors her to take the crowns of Miss Bareback Buckaroo, Miss Magic Jesus and everything in between. And all while taking on his nemesis Bob Baywatch Body, Bulgin' Biceps, Balls for Brains, Boxer Brief, Bag of Boners, Backdoor Man Barnard, which culminates in a surprising cockfight.  Throw in murder, mayhem and mascara and you have Netlix's over-the-top comedy Insatiable.

Insatiable received quite a bit of backlash just before its premiere, with the public ravenous for the show's cancellation, citing that it promoted fat shaming.  The streaming company stood firm on its defense, stating that the show is meant to be a satire.  Critics subsequently shamed Insatiable with unflattering reviews but that hasn't stopped the episodes from coming as season 2 arrived in 2019, co-starring me! (more on that later).  When I researched filming locations, the only information I could find was that the series was shot in Newnan, GA.  I was able to figure out a few, but had much more success tracking down season two locations.

As I mentioned earlier, I did grace the screen in season 2.  Not with any lines, I was just an extra, something I've done on and off since 2004. Rarely, however, have I been in a show or movie that I watch or would want to watch so this was a nice change.  I am all the way to the left clapping my hands until they were raw.  I have not been back to Six Flags since this was filmed so I don't have a comparison shot as of right now...

To come full circle, I was a pageant goer in the first episode of season 2 and the last episode of season 2.  This was the longest day I had spent on set in the 14 years I've been doing extra work - 18 hours!  It was the very last day of shooting for the season so they had to get everything in.  It took me a moment to realize former *N Syncer Lance Bass was on stage as the MC for the pageant.  Once they yelled "That's a wrap on Season 2!" there were many tearful bye bye byes.  ;-)
