The Girl On The Train (2016)

Like Gone Girl (2014), I had not read the book for The Girl On The Train so I was not emotionally invested when I entered the theater.  I did, however, read reviews and message board postings and it seems many are not pleased with the adaptation.  I found the film enjoyable, especially after the first hour when the conductor released the breaks.  I've haven't done many modern day films (sadly because so few held my interest) but I think it's safe to say this will be the quickest turnaround should I do more as this movie was filmed very close to home.

The Girl On The Train was filmed in Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-On-Hudson, North White Plains, White Plains, Brooklyn and New York, NY

Location: Ardsley-On-Hudson Train Station
Address: Ardsley Avenue W, Irvington, NY

The film takes place in the town of Ardsley-On-Hudson, which actually does not exist and is only the name of a train stop on the Hudson Line of The Metro North Railroad.  The actual town of Ardsley is a few miles east of the river, and ironically, was not used in the film.

Location: Tom & Anna's House
Address: 14 Macy Avenue, White Plains, NY

In the film, the backyards of the houses border the train tracks along the Hudson River, but in reality, they are about 10 miles east in White Plains overlooking a large field.  The wonders of CGI.

The view from the backyard....

As you can see, the upstairs balcony responsible for Rachel's involvement was either built by production or renovated to throw location hunters like me off the track ;-)

Location: Rachel & Cathy's Apartment Building

It was hard to get a wide shot since this borders the train tracks.

Rachel runs after Detective Riley to tell her what she saw at the intersection of Southside Avenue and Washington Avenue, just down from the apartment.
