Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way (1999)

The late 90s saw a youthquake in entertainment.  Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) ushered in a new era of teen horror films.  Dawson's Creek (1998-2003) and Buffy The Vampire Slayer ruled on television.  Picking up the mantle from New Edition and New Kids On The Block were NSYNC and Backstreet Boys.  For the lead single off their sophomore album, Backstreet Boys chose the mid-tempo track I Want It That Way.  If you're left confused by the lyrics, you're in good company.  Regardless, the nonsensical song was a hit for the boy band and became one of their most revered songs.

For the equally nonsensical video, the boys are seen taking over the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX, showing up with no luggage, walking and dancing like they own the place.  I can't begin to fathom how many people were late for their flights.  They are then surrounded by adoring fans in a hangar.  All the chaos could've been avoided had they used The Bob Hope Airport.  But I guess they wanted it that way.

I Want It That Way was filmed in Los Angeles, CA
