Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)

The Jarvis family was expecting another quiet weekend of 6AM jogs around the lake, tuna fish leftovers (with orange juice?) and games of Zaxxon until a bunch of teenage sex fiends rent the house next door.  But pretty soon there is more than one bodily fluid splattering around as Jason, at his scariest and most unrelenting, hones in and disposes of them in extremely painful ways (Paul's spear gun to the groin is still hard to watch).  Trish Jarvis, who develops an allergy to wearing pants halfway through the film, holds her own as the final girl with the help of her little brother Tommy.  Together, they manage to kill Jason for the next two years once and for all.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter….yeah right.  No way was Paramount gonna send their cash cow to the slaughterhouse just yet.   However, it was the final chapter for me.  I'm not a fan of the later sequels with zombie Jason.  Although it was the fourth installment, The Final Chapter still delivered a high body count with brutal death scenes, lazy character naming (*cough* Paul *cough* Ted *cough* Teri) excessive nudity and some Doublemint gum twins.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was filmed in Topanga Canyon, Solvang, Beverly Hills, and Santa Clarita, CA

Location: Higgins Haven
Address: Forest Route 5N28, Santa Clarita, CA  Veluzat Movie Ranch

I love the opening scene showing the clean up efforts of the events from Friday the 13th Part III (1982).  It was so eerie to see all the bodies on gurneys and in body bags...

The seven seconds of complete silence after the police and ambulances leaves may be the creepiest of the entire franchise...

Location: Driving to Camp Crystal Lake
Address: Franklin Canyon & Lake Drive, Los Angeles, CA

You can briefly see this house and street sign when the gang is en route to the lake and Ted (different Ted than Part 2) tells Jimmy he's a dead fuck...

It turns out the gang continue down Lake Drive where they pass Mrs. Voorhees' tombstone and the hitchhiker.  Thanks to Robert Patterson at Set-Jetter for sharing this location...

Location: The Jarvis House
Address: 1801 N Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Topanga, CA

The rented house of horrors across the way was built specifically for the film...

Location: The Lake
Address: Franklin Canyon Reservoir Road, Los Angeles, CA

Here is where Sam takes her last swim and Paul, who has one of the most painful deaths of the entire series, gets a spear gun to the groin...

  1. This is also the fishing hole from The Andy Griffith Show. In the Crispin pic, after you pass that white fence in the direction they are headed, walk right down that path towards the picnic table! :D
