Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)

Times weren't quite as fast at my prep school as they were at Ridgemont High but Amy Heckerling's directorial debut about high school life seems to be spot on according to those attended it in the early 80s.  Much of that is thanks to a twenty-two year old Cameron Crowe going undercover for a year as a high school student to gather intel for his book.  Although Fast Time At Ridgemont High's plot is nonexistent, any scene with Spicoli makes up for it, not to mention Phoebe Cates in a bathing suit.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High was filmed in Brentwood, Van Nuys, Encino, Canoga Park, North Hollywood, Santa Monica, Valley Glen and Los Angeles, CA

Location: Ridgemont Mall Exterior
Address: Broadway & 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, CA

It's gone under major reconstruction and is now a parking lot entrance to the shopping center.

The interiors were filmed at The Sherman Oaks Galleria.  The mall closed in 1999 and reopened in 2002 after extensive renovations.

    1. Yeah, it's always nice when they look similar as to when they were used in filming. I hate when you find out it's now a parking lot or something.

    1. I saw that recently on Facebook. I hope the new owners don't mind people stopping by.

    2. They must have used a different house for the interiors, because I think in the film, when you come through the front door, make an immediate left and there was Stacy's room, where in the house for sale, it is just a wall. I love film locations, lol xo, Tonya

    3. No they didn't use a different interior. You're right, Stacy's room was right by the front door. In the pictures when the house was for sale you can tell that the people who lived there just put up a wall where her one door was. That room actually had two doors, I'm not sure why, but you know because in the movie when her mom is saying goodnight to Stacy before she sneaks out to meet Ron Johnson, she exits out that door.
