Who's The Boss? (1984-1992)

When Greenwich, CT ad exec Angela Bower placed an ad for a housekeeper she never imagined former major league baseball player Tony Micelli would answer.  Looking for a better life for his daughter Sam, Tony leaves Brooklyn to keep house for Angela and her son Jonathan, while Angela's mother Mona ogles from afar.  Their unusual arrangement is the talk of the town and begins the perpetual question of will they or they won't they?

One of two shows to debut in the fall of '84 about a male domestic, Who's the Boss? fared much better than Charles In Charge (1984-1990) in ratings and duration. The sexual tension between Angela and Tony sloooooooooowly came to a boil and after seven seasons, they finally acknowledged they dug each other.   The later seasons caused more heartburn than Mrs. Rossini's lasagna.

Tony's van is first seen heading up the Hutchinson River Parkway, which turns into the Merritt Parkway after crossing into Connecticut.  This is not the exact spot, but it gives you an idea...

Then the van turns onto Purchase Street.  This is right around the corner from The Bower Residence...

  2. What road is that with The Who’s The Boss title?

    1. The one at the very top is the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. I'm not sure about the woodsy one with all the leaves.

  3. How cool!! I've always wondered where the opening credits were filmed. The shot of Tony's van going down the road with lots of yellow leaves on both sides of it, right before the shot of the van pulling up to the house is the one that I always loved most. Looks like it's beautiful fall weather and a one way road leading to a quiet little home. Thanks for putting this out there :)

  4. I also love the shot with the yellow leave filled road. But the one I love more is where the van goes by from left to right and the shot zooms out showing the road/bridge going over the small stream. Do you know where that is?
The scene I’m a referencing was not used in every opening/intro throughout the years.
