Batman Forever (1995)

Gotham City is once again at the mercy of a madman, er, men.  Harvey Dent/Two-Face is wreaking havoc, keeping Bruce Wayne/Batman busy.  As if that wasn't enough, The Riddler is out to steal all of Gotham's confidential information with his brainwave device.  He and Two-Face form an alliance against The Caped Crusader, who now has a sidekick in acrobat-turned-orphan Dick Grayson, who spreads his wings again as Robin.  It's not all work though as Bruce gets to play with Dr. Chase Meridian, whose obsessed with the The Dark Knight.  She and Robin are captured by The Riddler and Two-Face leaving Batman forced to choose to save only one. SPOILER: He manages to save both after sending Two-Face plummeting to his demise and driving The Riddler insane.

Batman Forever saw a new director behind the camera (Joel Shumacher) and a new actor to don the bat cape (Val Kilmer).  There were lots of new bat toys in this installment and the bat suit got an upgrade with a set of nipples.  The tone of the franchise shifted to a much more colorful campfest. Unfortunately many fans didn't feel the urge to make S'mores.  I found Kilmer's performance to be wooden but Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones sure make up for it chewing copious amount of scenery.  And if you had a vase for every time you heard Seal's Kiss From A Rose during the summer of '95, there wouldn't be a perennial depraved of water.  This entry is not my favorite but it's got one thing going for it - it's not Batman & Robin (1997).
