Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)

It's Jason meets Carrie in the seventh installment of Friday the 13th.  Tina Shepard is a troubled teen with telekinetic powers under the care of the unscrupulous Dr. Crews.  She accidentally brings Jason to the surface of Crystal Lake (whoops!) who crashes the party next door and cleans the crowded house.  But Jason has met his match this time as Tina proves to be an extremely worthy competitor.  The New Blood is noted for being the most censored entry, having been submitted nine times to the Motion Picture Association of America.  Not quite done borrowing from another famous horror franchise, this brutal sequel ends on a peaceful note a la the tv version of Halloween II (1981)

As I've stated before, my love for the franchise dies after the Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), but I didn't think I'd be in the Mobile, AL area again anytime soon, so I figured what the hell.  I was in a race against time to get there before complete darkness.  Byrnes Lake Road seemed to go on forever.  Most fans know nothing remains of the original houses since, well, one blew up, but the dock is still there.  I was a little freaked out, I didn't bother to turn my car off for fear of getting stuck there. Not a soul. Dead silence.  A far cry from Manhattan...

  1. My favorite 13th movie. Too bad most of it is gone. Adam The Woo went there a few years ago and posted on his YouTube channel and I was surprised at how little is left. Great work though!!

    1. Thanks Sam Haim! Yeah it’s a bummer it’s pretty much a wasteland now. Just got back from The Crystal Lake Tour. Hope to post pics soon.

    2. One of the firetrucks from the movie was still there, not sure if it still is, though.
