Kristin Parker is admitted to the Westin Hills Psychiatric Hospital after her mother believes she attempted suicide. But her slashed wrists were the work of Freddy Krueger in Kristin's nightmare. She meets other troubled teens who are under the care of Dr. Gordon and Elm Street's own Nancy Thompson, now an intern therapist. Freddy soon wreaks havoc on the last of the Elm Street kids.
A nun reveals to Dr. Gordon that Freddy is the son of Amanda Krueger, who was on the hospital staff and repeatedly raped by mental patients after accidentally being locked in. The only way to stop Freddy is to lay his bones to rest. Nancy's father Don digs them up at the junkyard before meeting his demise. Nancy joins Kristin, who has the ability to pull people into her dreams to battle Freddy. He kills Nancy appearing as Don's ghost. Dr. Gordon sprinkles holy water on Freddy's skeleton, killing him. At Nancy and Don's funeral, Dr. Gordon discovers the nun he previously encountered is Amanda Krueger, whose son is not yet dead.
After A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) failed to scare up much at the box office, Wes Craven co-wrote the screenplay for the third installment, hoping to bring it to an end. The film ended up being a critical and commercial success and is a favorite among fans. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors continued the tradition of having excellent poster artwork, as well as some great special effects. Freddy is still menacing while working on his act for the The Laugh Factory.
