Stepmom (1998)

The tagline read: "Be there for the joy.  Be there for the tears.  Be there for each other."  Schmaltz. City.  I'll own it though - Stepmom made me bawl. In a few different spots.  Julia Roberts, never looking better, followed up her career-reviving My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) with this melodramatic tearjerker as she battles the quintessential Mother of the Year for the affection of her fiance's children.  Susan Sarandon's character is almost too mean-spirited to care for once she receives her diagnosis and Ed Harris has little to do in a thankless role, but Stepmom is a touching film to watch as long as you are stocked up on Kleenex.

Stepmom was filmed in Tappan, Nyack, Bronxville, Rye and New York, NY & Morristown and Montclair, NJ

  4. Where was Luke's apartment? It looks to be much the same as Sam's apartment in "Ghost", or at least the same iconic arched windows to the apartment.

    1. Luke's apartment is on Spring Street in Soho. Sam's apartment from Ghost is on Prince Street, which is one block north.

    3. I went to school at Murray Ave. during the filming. They temporarily sectioned off the theater and a couple hallways. I never saw the movie so i'm not sure if they used any of the footage, but I know they were definitely there for at least a couple weeks

    1. You're welcome! I haven't watched the film in a while but I'm pretty sure there is a shot looking toward the door/street which made it seem like it was an actual location.
