Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956)

A disheveled Dr. Miles Bennell recalls his harrowing experience of body snatchers in his town of Santa Mira to a psychiatrist at a nearby hospital.  Several of his patients have claimed loved ones have been replaced by emotionless imposters.  Miles soon sees for himself when bodies of his friend Jack Belicic and girlfriend Becky Driscoll are found in their homes and tries to notify authorities to no avail.  After seeing truckloads of pods being delivered, an exhausting chase scene endures as Miles and Becky try to flee from the rest of the town.  Miles is finally taken seriously after someone is brought in after being in an accident with a truck full of pods coming from Santa Mira and the FBI is alerted.

Invasion of The Body Snatchers is based on Jack Finney's novel from 1954.  Mill Valley in the Bay Area was considered for Santa Mira, but due to production costs, parts of Hollywood, Glendale and Sierra Madre were used to convey the small town.  The film was not a critical fave, but Invasion of The Body Snatchers' creepy story makes it a sci-fi/horror classic, spawning several remakes.
