American Psycho (2000)

Patrick Bateman is a Wall Street banker who wants. to. fit. in.  To the casual observer, he appears to have it all - a great job, a beautiful fiancĂ©, a sweet pad and a slightly better haircut than Paul Allen.  But when the night falls, his loneliness calls.  He doesn't want to dance with somebody, he wants to violently murder them, but not before spouting a Billboard Magazine review of some of his favorite albums.

Based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 novel, which gives a satirical look at the American Dream, American Psycho was adapted for the screen just like Less Than Zero (1987).  It's a nice blend of humor and horror and Christian Bale gives an outstanding performance.  And the film really messes with your mind.  I could never listen to Hip To Be Square, In Too Deep, Sussudio or The Greatest Love of All quite the same after seeing this movie.

American Psycho was filmed in New York, NY and Toronto, Canada

Patrick walks past here before killing the homeless guy...

This is also where Oda Mae Brown donates the check in Ghost (1990)

My curse of visiting NYC locations covered with scaffolding even extends to alleys!

The Arader sign and address made this location an easy one to track down...

American Horror Story: Freak Show (2014-2015)

When the fourth season of American Horror Story was announced, fans were freaking ;-) out about the possibilities Freak Show could be.  The opening credit sequence, the best of the series so far IMO, was a sure sign the audience was in for a wild carnival ride.  The story went a bit off the rails toward the end but was entertaining nonetheless.  Finn Wittrock stands out playing the mentally unstable Dandy and Jessica Lange continues to captivate as showrunner Elsa Mars.

American Horror Story: Freak Show was filmed in New Orleans, LA

Location: The Freak Show
Address: Off River Road & Vincent Lane, New Orleans, LA

This is not the exact spot of the freak show, but this was in this general area.  The area seen below is beyond some private property...

Location: Mott Manor
Address: 7 Bamboo Road, New Orleans, LA  Longue Vue House & Gardens

Unfortunately I just missed a tour departure and couldn't stay for the next one.  They didn't let you in the mansion without a guide so I didn't get a chance to see the dining room or Dandy's playroom.  But I was able to get a shot of the staircase and another shot of a room that was not seen on the show through windows...

Even though I didn't get inside, the tour of the grounds was worth the trip alone...

Episode 1 "Monsters Among Us"

Location: Elsa's Diner
Address: 626 S Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA  Camellia Grill

I was hoping to grab lunch at The Camellia Grill but the line was freakin' ;-) out the door.  I ended up eating at The Frostop Diner from Coven instead.  I did snap a shot of the inside though...

Episode 5 "Pink Cupckakes"

Location: The Gay Bar
Address: 4841 Tchoupitloulas Street, New Orleans, LA F&M Patio Bar

Since I got there at 11am, it was not open yet, but I was able to get a shot of the inside through a small window on the front door...
