The Lawrence Family lives in a beautiful home in beautiful Pasadena, California. But under that veneer of beauty, they endure problems that plague many families including alcoholism, cancer and infidelity. Family was a hit with critics and received several Emmy nominations and wins. Among the cast were a pre-Family Ties (1982-1989) Meredith Baxter Birney and a pre-Empty Nest (1988-1995) Kristy McNichol in addition to James Broderick, father of Matthew Broderick.

The Family house was kept in the family. Six years after the show went off the air, Matthew Broderick bounced off a backyard trampoline in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986). This was also Ellie Sattler's house in Jurassic Park III (2001).
