We've all suffered from theme park fatigue. After a while, the rollercoaster loops fail to impress and the fanny packs blend into one giant suitcase. Speaking of giants, John Hammond has the brilliant idea of cloning dinosaurs by extracting their DNA from mosquitos trapped in the amber and letting them roam a theme park where people can see them up close. What could go wrong? Just about everything you could think up as a tropical storm hits and the power goes out right around feeding time. Scientists, along with Hammond's grandchildren, fight for their lives as they dodge Raptors, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Gallimimus stampede.
Steven Speilberg has delivered many cinematic masterpieces over his career. In the 1970s Jaws (1975) rose to the surface, in the 1980s E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) took flight and the 1990s would not be left out with Michael Crichton's bestseller adapted for the big screen. Jurassic Park was highly-praised upon release and broke box office records, attracting everyone from little kids to old fossils. ;-) There was no way these dinosaurs would face cinematic extinction. ;-)
Jurassic Park was filmed in Kaneohe and Kuwaii, HI and Universal City and Burbank, CA
Location: The T. Rex Chase
Address: Warner Brothers Backlot, Burbank CA
Location: The Gallimimus Stampede
Address: Kualoa Movie Ranch, 49-560 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, HI
You might ask yourself why one of Jurassic Park's most memorable sequences was the only one filmed on Oahu. That's because during filming Hurricane Iniki hit the island of Kauai. Actual footage of the hurricane is seen as the storm makes landfall on Isla Nublar. Thus, the Gallimimus stampede was moved to the Kualoa Movie Ranch and is the most popular stop on the tour...
The Gallimimus stampede from Jurassic World (2015) was also filmed here as well as the golf course from Lost (2004-2010).
Location Visited: July 2018

The tree trunk Grant and the kids huddle into was actually located across the roadway from where it currently sits on the tour. I was so in awe of it, I didn't pay attention to the reason why it was moved...
